Fall in Colorado is the best! There are so many fun things to get out and do in and around Denver and Boulder. Here are just a few ideas for fun family day outings.
Pick apples at Ya Ya Farm & Orchard in Longmont, CO. You’ll want to make a reservation. Don’t like apples? You can also pick pears, cherries, vegetables and flowers. They also have pumpkins!
Take the whole family (dog, too!) on a hike up Bald Mountain in Boulder County. This easy hike is just one-mile round trip and takes you to the top of Bald Mountain for beautiful views in all directions. Perfect for little legs and picnics!
Everyone will have a front row seat to view changing leaves from the car on the Peak-to-Peak Highway. This short trip through Boulder Canyon to Nederland packs a colourful punch from mid-September to mid-October. Once you arrive in Nederland, there are several fun stops for lunch and the little ones love the Carousel of Happiness, a restored 1910 carousel with hand-carved animals.
Get a few more lazy days in on the lake at Standley Lake. Take your own paddle boards, canoes and kayaks or rent them once you get there by the hour. They also have lifejackets and pedal boats available for rent. Don’t forget your fishing pole…the fishing is so good in September!
